Laser Marking Machine for Semiconductor is a precision laser-processing system specifically designed to create permanent identification marks, characters, serial numbers, logos, barcodes, Data Matrix/QR codes, wafer IDs and other traceability information on semiconductor wafers, dies/chips, IC packages, leadframes, ceramic packages and related semiconductor components. The process is non-contact and generally creates a mark through localized ablation, engraving, surface-color change or other laser–material interaction, avoiding the mechanical stress associated with contact marking methods.
Compared with a general industrial laser marker, semiconductor-specific machines normally require substantially higher levels of positioning accuracy, beam control, vision alignment, automatic focusing, wafer or tray handling, code verification, MES/SECS-GEM integration and contamination control. Dedicated wafer-marking equipment can handle Si as well as compound-semiconductor materials such as SiC, GaN and GaAs; TOWA LASERFRONT, for example, offers its SL473 series for Si, GaAs, SiC, GaN and other wafer materials.

1. The principal market driver is the continuing expansion of semiconductor manufacturing and advanced packaging, particularly for AI processors, HBM, automotive electronics, power semiconductors, MEMS and compound-semiconductor devices.
