The basic principle of producing titanium tetrachloride by the chlorination process is to mix titanium-containing raw materials (such as high-titanium slag, ilmenite, etc.) with reducing agents (such as petroleum coke) in a certain proportion, and then introduce chlorine gas at high temperature for chlorination reaction. In this process, titanium oxide is reduced by chlorine gas to generate titanium tetrachloride gas, and the reducing agent is oxidized at the same time.
