The paste is applied to the chip ends—by dipping, array coating or printing—on sintered MLCC bodies, and then fired to create adherent, solderable termination layers that provide electrical connection to the buried internal electrodes, mechanical anchoring to the ceramic body, and a suitable base for subsequent Ni barrier and Sn/SnAg plating.
