Arkema has combined anti-caking, dust control, moisture resistance, and color management into its fertilizer coating solutions, while Clariant's FERTALA product emphasizes anti-caking, dust suppression, and pressure resistance in high-humidity environments. This indicates that fertilizer companies are shifting from purchasing general-purpose chemicals to sourcing solutions tailored to fertilizer formulations, granule structures, storage periods, and climatic conditions.

Technological approaches will become more diversified. Traditional mineral oil, fatty amine, and wax-based coatings still offer cost and maturity advantages, while water-based emulsions, vegetable oil-based formulations, natural mineral powders, and biodegradable materials will see wider application. Kao has developed oil-based and water-based anti-caking systems, while Hubei Forbon Technology has launched vegetable oil and natural mineral routes. EU restrictions on the intentional addition of microplastics, covering some agricultural uses, will further drive the development of products with low residues, biodegradability, and that do not form persistent polymer particles.
