The global Hard Ferrite Magnets market size was US$ 3474 million in 2024 and is forecast to a readjusted size of US$ 4540 million by 2031 with a CAGR of 4.1% during the forecast period 2025-2031.
By 2025, the evolving U.S. tariff policy is poised to inject considerable uncertainty into the global economic landscape. This report delves into the latest U.S. tariff measures and the corresponding policy responses across the globe, evaluating their impacts on Hard Ferrite Magnets market competitiveness, regional economic performance, and supply chain configurations.
Hard Ferrite Magnets are also called Ceramic Magnets. There are mainly two types of Hard Ferrite Magnets, Barium ferrite (BaO.6Fe2O3) and Strontium ferrite (SrO.6Fe2O3). Compared with other permanent magnets, sintered ferrite magnet is cheap. It is most suitable for most sensitive, but need not very high performance application. As this is a non-metal magnets, it is the ideal magnets for applications that require non-rusty magnets in humid environment. Sintered ferrite (ceramic) magnets are also available in forms of isotropic and an-isotropic. The magnetic properties of isotropic ferrite are the same in all directions, therefore they can be magnetized in any pole arrangements. An-isotropic Hard Ferrite Magnets, on the other hand, can only be magnetized in the direction they are oriented during production, but they have much higher magnetic strength than isotropic ones.
As an important representative of non-rare earth permanent magnet materials, hard ferrite magnets continue to play a key role in many mature and emerging fields with their excellent anti-demagnetization ability, stable magnetic properties and highly competitive cost structure. According to different preparation processes, hard ferrite magnets are mainly divided into two categories: sintered ferrite magnets and bonded ferrite magnets: sintered ferrite magnets have stronger magnetic properties and are widely used in core components such as cooling fans, electric seats, electric window lift motors in the automotive industry, as well as compressors, motors, and exhaust systems of household appliances; while bonded ferrite magnets are more used in electroacoustic products such as headphone speakers, microphones, computer fans, and low magnetic energy product demand scenarios such as toys and office equipment due to their advantages of good formability, flexible size and low cost.
The core manufacturers of hard ferrite magnets in the world include TDK, Proterial, Hengdian Dongci, Jiangyi Magnetic Materials and Anhui Longci Technology. The top five manufacturers account for about 29% of the global market share. The Asia-Pacific region is the world's largest hard ferrite market, accounting for about 45% of the market share, followed by North America and Europe, accounting for about 25% and 23% respectively. In terms of product type, sintered ferrite magnets are the largest segment, accounting for about 68% of the share. In terms of downstream, electroacoustic products are the largest downstream field, accounting for about 27% of the share.
Driven by the "dual carbon" background and the trend of global supply chain diversification, hard ferrites are ushering in new development opportunities with their advantages of not relying on rare earth resources, strong controllability of raw materials, and low life cycle costs. Especially in the fields of new energy vehicle auxiliary systems, intelligent manufacturing equipment, home appliances going to the countryside, as well as low-speed electric vehicles and energy storage systems, the application prospects of hard ferrite magnets are becoming increasingly broad. At the same time, with the increasing requirements for product miniaturization, integration and performance stability, the industry is gradually evolving towards high consistency, high anisotropy and high densification.
In order to seize this wave of development, manufacturers need to accelerate the technological upgrading of the preparation process, such as using advanced isostatic pressing technology, refined sintering control, grain orientation optimization and other methods to improve the consistency and corrosion resistance of magnets; at the same time, promote the green transformation of the industrial chain and reduce energy consumption and pollutant emissions. In addition, it is also necessary to strengthen the collaborative development capabilities with downstream customers, especially in the automotive, home appliances and consumer electronics fields, to quickly respond to personalized and customized needs, and enhance the voice and added value in the high-end market. In the future, the hard ferrite magnet industry will continue to evolve in the direction of "high performance, low energy consumption, and wide coverage" through technological innovation and application expansion on the basis of the stable development of traditional bulk applications.
