In 2024, the global market size of Pullulanase was estimated to be worth US$ 177 million and is forecast to reach approximately US$ 164 million by 2031 with a CAGR of -1.1% during the forecast period 2025-2031.
Pullulanase is an endo-type enzyme that cleaves α-1,6-glucosidic linkages in polysaccharides, such as amylopectin, glycogen, dextrin and pullulan. It requires the branching chain to be of at least a maltose length in order for it to be able to cleave the α-1,6 linkage. Pullulanase is found in plants and microorganisms. Pullulanases from microorganisms, such as bacillus brevis, bacillus acidopullulyticus and Klebsiella sp., are commercially available as an industrial enzyme preparation. Pullulanase is also referred to as “debranching enzyme”, because it hydrolyzes the branching α-1,6-glucosidic linkages in polysaccharides, such as amylopectin. This debranching activity of pullulanase is combined with the activities of other enzymes, such as β-amylase and isoamylase, for the production of maltose and oligosaccharides.
Global Pullulanase key players include Novozymes, Genencor, Amano Enzyme, Longda, etc. Global top four manufacturers hold a share over 70%.
Europe is the largest market, with a share about 45%, followed by USA, and Japan, both have a share over 45 percent.
In terms of product, Debranching Enzyme is the largest segment, with a share over 65%. And in terms of application, the largest application is High Glucose Syrup, followed by High Maltose Syrup, Brewage, etc.
