Supercritical Fluid Chromatography System (SFC) is a chromatographic analysis technology that uses supercritical fluid (usually carbon dioxide) as the mobile phase for sample separation. The SFC system combines the advantages of traditional liquid chromatography (LC) and gas chromatography (GC) and is efficient, fast, high-resolution and environmentally friendly. Supercritical fluids are a state between gaseous and liquid states that exist at temperatures and pressures above a critical point. Carbon dioxide is a commonly used supercritical fluid and is widely used because of its low cost, easy availability, and nontoxicity. In SFC systems, supercritical carbon dioxide is usually mixed with a liquid modifier (such as methanol or acetonitrile) to adjust the polarity of the mobile phase to achieve effective separation of different compounds.
