A vapor Chamber is a planer heat pipe, which can spread heat in two dimensions. They are typically used in high heat flux applications, or when two-dimensional spreading is required. Vapor Chamber technology enables higher CPUs with a higher TDP (or overclocked state) to be efficiently and effectively cooled to safe operating temperatures, extending component and product life. Vapor chamber features a wick design that filled with coolant. When heated, the coolant changes phase from a liquid to a gas and back again to transfer heat.

The vapor chamber industry has seen significant growth due to increasing demand for efficient thermal management systems in various sectors such as electronics, automotive, aerospace, defense, and renewable energy. Vapor chambers are widely used in high-power electronic devices like CPUs, GPUs, and LED lighting to dissipate heat and maintain optimal operating temperatures. As vehicles become more advanced with electric powertrains and increased electronics content, vapor chambers help manage heat in battery packs, electric motors, and onboard electronics. In high-stress environments, such as space vehicles and military applications, vapor chambers help manage heat in satellite systems, avionics, and weapon systems. Vapor chambers are typically made from materials like copper, aluminum, or a combination of both. The manufacturing process involves precise bending, welding, and sealing techniques to ensure the integrity of the vacuum-sealed chamber. The working fluid, usually water or a refrigerant, is carefully chosen based on the operating temperatures and environmental conditions. Advances in materials and manufacturing techniques leading to more efficient and compact vapor chambers. Developments in heat spreaders that integrate multiple vapor chambers for even better heat dissipation are also on the rise. There is ongoing research into alternative working fluids and materials to improve performance in specific applications. The vapor chamber industry includes a mix of established players and startups.
