Intelligent Quick Release Hook is a dedicated mooring device installed on jetties, quays, mooring dolphins or other vessel mooring facilities to receive, secure and retain ship mooring lines and to release them rapidly during routine departure or emergency situations through manual, local or remote operation. The equipment generally comprises a fixed base, pivoting hook body, locking mechanism and release mechanism, and may be configured as a single-hook or multiple-hook assembly with optional capstans, hook position detection, mooring load monitoring, remote release, status indication and centralized control functions. Compared with conventional mooring bollards, a Intelligent Quick Release Hook reduces the need for manual line handling and enables the controlled release of mooring lines while they remain under load, thereby improving the safety and efficiency of vessel berthing, mooring and emergency departure operations. The main restraint is the considerably higher installed cost compared with conventional bollards. A complete system may require hook assemblies, capstans, electrical or hydraulic release equipment, load monitoring, control cabinets, field cabling, structural foundations and commissioning. Equipment is exposed to saltwater corrosion, rain, temperature variation, impact, repeated line loading and irregular horizontal or vertical lead angles, while energy terminals may additionally require explosion-protected electrical components and redundant control logic. Load pins, actuators, limit switches, hydraulic equipment and control systems must retain accuracy and functionality throughout long service periods. By hook quantity, the market is divided into Single-Hook Units, Double-Hook Units, Triple-Hook Units, Quadruple-Hook Units and Others. Single-hook units are used where foundation space is limited, mooring-point loads are concentrated or only one line is allocated to each location. Double-hook and triple-hook units represent the mainstream configuration for oil, chemical, LNG and general terminal projects because they provide multiple line attachment points while maintaining a manageable footprint. Quadruple-hook units are used where several breast, spring or head lines converge at one mooring dolphin.
