Hygienic Drainage System for Food Processing is a floor-level wastewater collection and local conveyance system specifically designed for food and beverage production environments.
The system normally consists of stainless-steel floor drains, gullies, linear channels, trench drains, slot drains, gratings, strainers, sediment baskets, removable traps, cleanouts and local drainage pipes or fittings. Its design is intended to provide adequate flow while reducing standing water, difficult-to-clean joints, sharp internal corners and locations where food residue can accumulate.
The scope includes independently priced drainage packages serving individual food-processing lines, production zones, washdown areas or complete workshops. Municipal sewers, wastewater-treatment systems, grease separators, pumps, ordinary residential drains, pharmaceutical drainage, flooring and installation labor are excluded.
The 2025 ASP is US$38,000 per unit, global sales volume is approximately 35.526k units, and the average gross margin is approximately 31%.
The upstream chain includes AISI 304 and 316L stainless-steel sheet, bars and pipes, welding consumables, seals, anti-slip grating materials, polymer edge infill, traps and fastening components.
Midstream activities include hydraulic and layout design, stainless-steel cutting, forming, welding, surface finishing, channel slope fabrication, grating production, assembly, leakage testing and project customization.
Downstream applications mainly cover meat and poultry, dairy, beverages, breweries, seafood, bakery, confectionery, prepared foods, pet food and other wet food-processing facilities.
Drainage should be considered part of the hygienic zoning strategy rather than only a plumbing component. Drainage flow from a raw or contaminated area toward a high-care area can create a cross-contamination pathway.
Standing water may indicate insufficient floor slope, inadequate drain positioning, excessive distance between drains, blocked strainers or inadequate hydraulic capacity.
A high nominal flow rate does not guarantee hygienic performance. The channel geometry, internal radius, surface finish, slope, weld quality and accessibility for cleaning must be evaluated together.
Channels should be sized for peak discharge rather than average wastewater volume. Simultaneous equipment discharge and washdown can create short-duration flows that are much higher than normal production discharge.
Wide trench drains provide access and high solids capacity but require removable gratings. Narrow slot drains reduce the amount of exposed drainage surface but can be less suitable where large food solids must be collected.
A removable strainer protects downstream pipework, but an undersized basket can block rapidly and cause wastewater to overflow onto the floor.
A water trap provides an odor and sewer-gas barrier but can become a contamination reservoir if it cannot be removed and cleaned.
Stainless-steel grade should be selected according to temperature, chlorides, salt, cleaning chemicals and product acidity. AISI 316L may be required where 304 stainless steel has insufficient corrosion resistance.
Automatic or integrated drain cleaning can reduce manual work but does not eliminate the need for inspection, removal of solids and verification of cleaning effectiveness.
Future competition will increasingly depend on hygienic geometry, lower cleaning-water use, prefabricated slope accuracy, heavy-load resistance, BIM-ready project design and integration with complete factory hygiene programs.
