The Conventional Stirling Cryocooler is a closed-cycle regenerative refrigeration machine that produces cryogenic temperatures through the cyclic compression and expansion of a sealed working gas, typically high-purity helium. It represents a specialized market for modular and distributed cryogenic installations rather than the primary refrigeration process used in large base-load LNG plants. Superconducting Power Transmission uses Stirling cryocoolers to maintain the operating temperatures of superconducting cables, fault-current limiters and associated power equipment, supporting high-capacity and low-loss electricity transmission. Infrared Detectors represent the dominant application market.
