Continuous machines generally integrate slurry feeding, cake formation, vacuum filtration, cake washing, dewatering, cake discharge, filter-cloth cleaning, and filtrate collection in one operating line.

The equipment is particularly suitable for high-throughput applications requiring visible continuous operation, effective cake washing, flexible filtration-zone design, and simultaneous recovery of valuable solids and filtrate.
Compared with many batch filtration systems, horizontal vacuum belt filters provide continuous material flow and allow filtration, multi-stage washing, dewatering, and cake discharge to be arranged sequentially along the belt. Modular designs can also accommodate different filtration areas, cake thicknesses, washing stages, construction materials, and enclosure requirements.
