IC card prepaid gas meters are positioned within the gas metering system as prepaid control terminals between traditional mechanical gas meters and fully connected smart gas meters. They retain the basic metering capability of diaphragm meters or commercial flow meter bases, while integrating gas purchase, balance writing, consumption deduction, and valve opening and closing into a single meter through IC cards, controllers, valves, display units, and security authentication mechanisms.
