The raw material system for these magnets comprises three main components: magnetic powder, binder, and additives. Magnetic powder is the primary cost driver; for injection-molded NdFeB magnets, melt-spun NdFeB powder (typically Nd₁₄Fe₈₀B₆) is predominantly used—supplied largely by international companies like Magnequench—with a loading level typically reaching 86–92% (by volume). For injection-molded ferrite magnets, SrFe₁₂O₁₉ or BaFe₁₂O₁₉ calcined powders are used, which are significantly less expensive than rare-earth powders. Binders primarily consist of Nylon 12 (PA12) and PPS, accounting for approximately 7–12% of the volume; these materials must exhibit good thermal flow characteristics, compatibility with the magnetic powder, and sufficient mechanical strength after molding.
