Compared with shallow-water or platform-based manifolds, deepwater manifolds must operate for long periods under high water depth, high external pressure, low temperature, corrosive fluids, high-pressure flow and limited human intervention. Technical references define subsea manifolds as pipework and valve arrangements used to combine, distribute, control and monitor fluid flow in subsea oil and gas systems, typically installed near well clusters for production gathering or injection distribution.
