Common materials include BBO, LBO, KTP, KTA, KDP, DKDP, LiNbO3, PPLN, PPKTP, ZGP, and other infrared or deep-ultraviolet nonlinear materials. Their performance depends on transmission range, effective nonlinear coefficient, phase-matching method, damage threshold, absorption loss, optical homogeneity, thermal stability, cutting angle, coating quality, and packaging or temperature-control design. Nonlinear crystals mainly serve solid-state lasers, ultrafast lasers, tunable light sources, quantum light sources, medical lasers, industrial processing, remote sensing, optical communications, and defense research. Typical customers include laser and optical system manufacturers, as well as universities, research institutes, and advanced laboratories.

The industry value of nonlinear crystals comes from the long-term demand of laser systems for wavelength accessibility and energy-conversion efficiency. Many application scenarios cannot obtain the target wavelength directly from laser gain media, so the fundamental laser output must be converted into ultraviolet, visible, near-infrared, or mid-infrared light through frequency doubling, sum-frequency generation, difference-frequency generation, parametric oscillation, and parametric amplification. Nonlinear crystals perform the core frequency-conversion function in this process, and their performance directly affects output power, beam quality, pulse width, system stability, and long-term reliability. As solid-state lasers, ultrafast lasers, tunable light sources, and quantum light sources continue to develop, customer requirements have expanded from basic material parameters to cutting angle, clear aperture, surface quality, coating damage threshold, absorption loss, temperature control, and assembly compatibility. Future competition will not revolve around a single crystal material alone, but increasingly around high-consistency crystals, low-loss coatings, temperature-controlled assemblies, and customized delivery capabilities for system manufacturers.
