These examples show that engineered foams are defined by the combination of cellular structure, polymer chemistry, functional performance and end-use engineering requirements.

From the supply side, the global market is structured around multinational materials groups, regional specialist foam manufacturers, Chinese and Asian manufacturing clusters, and structural core material specialists. Carpenter, Woodbridge and INOAC have strong positions in polyurethane foams, automotive interiors and technical foam products. Armacell, Zotefoams, SEKISUI, Toray and JSP are more prominent in polyolefin, PET, EPP and high-performance foam materials. Diab, Gurit, 3A Composites, Maricell and Armacell have a stronger presence in structural foam cores for wind blades, marine, transportation and composite structures.
