The matte side is normally roughened, cured, oxidation-protected, and coupling-treated to provide reliable adhesion to resin systems.
HTE foil is primarily used in FR-4, CEM, high-glass-transition-temperature, and halogen-free copper clad laminates, as well as rigid multilayer printed circuit boards. During lamination, reflow soldering, and repeated thermal cycling, its elevated-temperature ductility helps absorb stresses generated by the thermal expansion of dielectric materials, reducing the risk of foil cracking, plated-through-hole interconnection failure, and delamination. This market definition excludes lithium-ion battery current-collector foil and low-loss products principally classified as RTF, VLP, HVLP, or carrier-supported ultra-thin foil.
