Aluminum Tripolyphosphate, also called aluminum dihydrogen triphosphate or aluminum triphosphate, is a white, inorganic anticorrosive pigment generally represented by the formula AlH₂P₃O₁₀·2H₂O. It releases tripolyphosphate ions gradually, helping form a protective phosphate film on steel, galvanized steel, aluminum and magnesium-alloy surfaces. It is primarily used as a lead-free and chromate-free corrosion inhibitor in solvent-based, water-based and powder coatings.
Asia-Pacific is the principal production centre because China has numerous cost-competitive phosphate-pigment manufacturers, while Japan’s Tayca is an established technology supplier with its K-WHITE aluminum-triphosphate portfolio. China dominates volume supply, while Japan remains important in premium grades.
Europe: Strong demand for heavy-metal-free industrial, coil, machinery and infrastructure coatings.
