Manufacturing Process and Market Trends:

The magnetic rod body of a ferrite rod-core inductor is made by mixing, pre-firing, pulverizing, and granulating iron-manganese-zinc or iron-nickel-zinc oxides using ceramic processes, pressing it into a rod blank, and then sintering it at high temperature to form a ceramic rod body. After sintering, the end faces are ground and the appearance is sorted to ensure consistent dimensions and magnetic properties. Then, on an automatic winding machine, enameled copper wire is tightly wound around the rod body or pre-wound onto a sliding sleeve frame and then fixed. Thin insulating paper or polyimide tape separates the layers, and the coil shape is locked by adhesive or heat-shrink tubing. The wire ends are stripped, tinned, and led to straight legs or leads. The entire unit is then epoxy-impregnated or coated for moisture protection and curing. Finally, each inductor's Q value and insulation resistance are measured to screen it before shipment. While the demand for tuning traditional AM radio antennas is shrinking, this type of rod-core structure still retains a niche in the high-stability material requirements of RFID coil frame near-field coupling elements, vehicle keyless entry, and tire pressure antennas. The greater trend is towards magnetic circuit components moving towards higher μ and lower loss formulations, thinner walls, lightweight designs, and integrated injection molding inserts. At the same time, wireless charging and EMI suppression are increasingly being replaced by flexible ferrite sheets and closed magnetic circuit solutions, causing purely open rod-core inductors to gradually retreat to specific receiving and low-cost choke scenarios.
