Vacuum processing refers to a range of manufacturing and material processing techniques performed under vacuum conditions. Vacuum processing involves creating and maintaining a controlled vacuum environment in a sealed chamber or container to perform various operations on materials. This is usually accomplished using a vacuum pump, which evacuates the chamber, reducing the pressure to a level significantly below atmospheric pressure. Once the desired vacuum level is achieved, various treatments can be performed on the materials within the chamber.

The main growth drivers are semiconductor fab expansion, EV battery production, demand for high-performance alloys, aerospace component quality requirements, and increasing use of PVD/CVD coatings for wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and optical/electronic functions. Vacuum furnaces and vacuum heat treatment are specifically used where controlled atmospheres and high-quality thermal processing are required.
