Trace atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS) is a high-precision analytical instrument specifically used to determine trace (i.e. extremely low concentration) metal elements and some non-metal elements in substances. Its working principle is based on the absorption of electromagnetic waves (usually light) of a specific wavelength (or frequency) by the ground state atomic vapor of a substance. When light of a specific wavelength passes through the sample vapor containing the element to be measured, the atoms of the element to be measured will absorb the light corresponding to its characteristic spectral line, causing the intensity of the light to weaken. By measuring the change in light intensity, the concentration of the element to be measured in the sample can be calculated.

The application field of trace atomic absorption spectrophotometer is constantly expanding. In addition to the traditional fields of geology, minerals, metallurgy, petrochemicals, etc., it is also widely used in emerging fields such as environmental protection, food, and medicine. For example, in the field of environmental protection, it can be used to detect heavy metal elements in environmental samples such as atmosphere and water quality; in the field of food safety, it can be used to detect harmful substances such as heavy metals and pesticide residues in food. In addition, with the continuous advancement of science and technology, trace atomic absorption spectrophotometers have made significant breakthroughs in technological innovation. For example, the development of new high-performance hollow cathode lamps improves the stability and life of the light source; the use of highly sensitive and highly selective detectors improves the detection accuracy and speed; and the realization of automatic sample injection, automatic dilution, automatic calibration and other functions improves the convenience and efficiency of operation.
