Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, or ELISA for short, is a solid-phase immunoassay method used to detect trace substances in body fluids. The analyte is connected to the enzyme through the specific immune reaction between the antigen and the antibody, and then the enzyme and the substrate produce a color reaction, which is used for quantitative or qualitative detection of antibodies, proteins, cytokines, hormones, etc. in the sample. Since its advent in the early 1970s, this technology has developed rapidly and has been widely used in many fields of biology and medical science.
