Capacitor film is mostly made of polypropylene and polyester as raw materials. Among them, the polypropylene used is generally electrical grade homopolymer polypropylene (high iso-regular homopolymer PP), which has the characteristics of high purity, excellent heat resistance, insulation, chemical stability, impact resistance, etc. The polyester used is generally electrical grade polyethylene terephthalate (electrical grade polyester, PET), which has the characteristics of high dielectric constant, high tensile strength, and good electrical properties.

Product performance depends not only on polymerization technology but also on molecular weight distribution, isotacticity, crystallization behavior, ash content, residual catalysts and trace-metal control. The high-end market remains concentrated among a limited number of suppliers capable of ultra-high-purity polymerization, clean production and consistent batch control. Long customer qualification cycles also result in relatively stable supplier relationships. Future competition will increasingly focus on ultra-thin-film processability, higher breakdown strength, improved heat resistance, lower dielectric loss and compatibility with high-voltage power electronic systems.
