An internal knowledge base is a private, internally-used knowledge management platform that allows an organization's employees to easily find, access, share, and manage a variety of knowledge resources within the company. These resources may include company policies, process documentation, training materials, project documentation, Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), best practices, workflow templates, key personnel contact information, meeting minutes and agendas, software tool documentation, and more. An internal knowledge base is a composite of structured information that is only available to company employees, i.e., it is open within the company, sometimes as part of the corporate intranet. Internal knowledge bases are created for a variety of reasons: to improve employee onboarding, to centralize standard operating procedures for business processes, to resolve customer queries faster, and to track updates. It also helps with team coordination within the company, as departments can share best practices or learn from each other's experiences.
