PVD Nickel Foam is a porous metallic material produced by depositing high-purity nickel onto a three-dimensional foam substrate through physical vapor deposition. It provides controlled coating thickness, high porosity, electrical conductivity, corrosion resistance, and a large active surface area. The product is mainly used in battery electrodes, electrolyzers, fuel cells, catalysts, filtration, and thermal management. It excludes conventional electroplated nickel foam, bulk nickel sponge, nickel mesh, nickel powder, and downstream finished electrodes.

The industrial chain includes upstream high-purity nickel targets, polymer foam substrates, process gases, vacuum chambers, sputtering sources, and deposition equipment. Midstream covers substrate pretreatment, vacuum deposition, heat treatment, substrate removal, rolling, slitting, inspection, and surface modification. Downstream applications include batteries, hydrogen electrolyzers, fuel cells, catalyst carriers, filtration systems, aerospace components, electronics, and thermal-management equipment.

PVD Nickel Foam is a porous conductive material produced or surface-modified through physical vapor deposition to form a uniform nickel layer on a three-dimensional foam substrate. It offers high porosity, electrical conductivity, specific surface area, corrosion resistance, and controllable coating thickness. The material is mainly used in batteries, supercapacitors, fuel cells, electrolyzers, catalysts, filtration systems, and electromagnetic shielding. The market is moving toward thinner and more uniform coatings, lower nickel consumption, high-purity surfaces, and compatibility with advanced electrode materials. Energy storage, hydrogen production, fuel-cell development, and demand for lightweight conductive structures are the main growth drivers. Although PVD enables precise surface control, it involves relatively high equipment and production costs. Large-scale production consistency, coating adhesion, process efficiency, and competition from electroplated nickel foam, metal mesh, and carbon-based current collectors remain major challenges.
