Polysilicate aluminum iron (PSAF) is a new type of water-soluble polymer electrolyte and an important chemical substance, which is polymerized by aluminum iron silicate and other substances.
The appearance of polysilicate aluminum iron is usually gray-black powder or light yellow flake, liquid, with high viscosity and surface tension. Its characteristic viscosity is usually greater than or equal to 40%m1/g, and its content is greater than or equal to 30%m/m. Its pH value is usually between 3 and 5.
The main component of polysilicate aluminum iron is aluminum iron silicate, which has the characteristics of high ionicity, easy solubility in water (completely soluble in water in the entire pH range and not affected by low water temperature), no gelation, and good hydrolysis stability. In addition, it also has good cohesion and adsorption properties, and can form hydrogen bonds with water molecules in water to form a polymer with good stability and high-efficiency precipitation performance.
Compared with commonly used coagulants such as polyaluminum chloride (PAC) and polyferric chloride (PFC), polysilicate aluminum iron has higher efficiency and is relatively cheap. It maintains the electrical neutralization, adsorption, bridging and sweeping effects of polyaluminium chloride, while overcoming the shortcomings of loose and fragile flocs, slow sedimentation rate and high residual aluminium content in PAC treated water samples. Compared with PFC, it forms larger and denser flocs, settles faster, and the treated water has lighter colour and better stability.
