Helium 3 is one of the isotopes of helium, and its chemical symbol is ³He. Its nucleus is composed of two protons and one neutron, and it is a stable isotope. At present, there are only two sources of helium 3 on Earth. One source is that the Earth is "naturally" born, but the proportion is very small, only about 0.000137%, and it has not yet been mined and utilized. The other source is as a byproduct of nuclear weapons, formed when tritium undergoes radioactive decay. The required process is complex and the technical level is high. Only about 15 kilograms can be supplied each year. Since the increase in terrorist attacks around the world, countries have attached importance to national defense construction, and many countries have deployed a large number of neutron detectors, and the demand for helium 3 has been rising. At present, the existing helium 3 on Earth is far from meeting the current demand.

With the advancement of science and technology, more and more countries are setting their sights on the moon. According to detection, the amount found in natural storage on the moon is 100 million times higher than the content on Earth, and mining on the moon will become a major trend in the future.

At present, helium 3 is produced by the nuclear decay of tritium, a radioactive isotope of hydrogen. The process is relatively complex and requires a high level of technology.

Due to the scarcity of original helium 3 reserves on the earth, companies cannot mine and utilize it; at the same time, the production technology of helium 3 requires high costs, and there are few production companies.

There are more than 1 million tons of helium 3 on the surface of the moon, which can be extracted by heating lunar dust to 600 degrees. 100 tons of helium 3 can provide the total energy used by the world for one year. At present, many countries have planned to go to the moon for mining. At the same time, since helium 3 does not generate radiation when used as an energy source, it will not cause harm to the environment, and its application prospects are broad. It will be widely used in homeland security, medicine, industry and other fields.

Helium 3 has important uses in homeland security, national security, medicine, industry and science, but because there are few companies producing helium 3, and as many countries go to the moon for mining, the country actively encourages enterprises to research, which provides good policy support for the future development of helium 3.
