Heat sinks are essential thermal management components designed to transfer and dissipate heat generated by electronic and power devices into the surrounding environment, thereby reducing junction temperature and improving system reliability. Structurally, heat sinks typically consist of a metal base and fin arrays, utilizing conduction, convection, and radiation for heat dissipation. They can be categorized into passive and active heat sinks, with advanced configurations incorporating heat pipes or vapor chambers, while common manufacturing processes include extrusion, die casting, stamping, skiving, and bonded assemblies. Heat sinks are widely used across consumer electronics, data centers and servers, telecommunications and power systems, industrial power electronics, new energy vehicles, and lighting and display applications.

In 2025, global heat sink shipments were estimated at roughly 310–320 million units. On an ex-factory basis (approx. FOB net selling price), the blended ASP typically fell around $10 per unit.
