Compressor valves in this directory refer primarily to automatic suction and discharge valves installed in the cylinders of reciprocating compressors. These valves open and close in response to pressure differences during the piston cycle, controlling the intake of gas into the compression chamber and the discharge of compressed gas. A complete compressor valve normally consists of a valve seat, guard, moving sealing elements such as plates, rings, poppets or reeds, and a spring or elastic return system. The products are widely used in oil and gas, refining, petrochemical, chemical, industrial gas, refrigeration and PET blow-molding applications. General pipeline valves, external safety valves, screw-compressor inlet valves and separately sold valve plates or springs are excluded. The large installed base of reciprocating compressors in oil and gas production, gas transmission, refining, petrochemical processing, industrial gas production and refrigeration creates stable replacement demand for compressor valves. Valves operate under continuous cyclic impact, pressure fluctuation, temperature variation and exposure to contaminated process gases. Their service life is therefore generally shorter than that of major compressor structures such as frames, cylinders and crankshafts. Periodic replacement, performance upgrading and conversion from conventional metal valves to higher-performance designs support a recurring aftermarket independent of new compressor installations.
Energy efficiency and equipment availability are becoming more important purchasing criteria. Pressure loss across suction and discharge valves directly affects compressor power consumption, discharge temperature and usable gas throughput. End users are increasingly selecting profiled plate valves, optimized ring valves, poppet valves and straight-flow reed designs that provide larger effective flow areas and more stable closing behavior. The adoption of PEEK, fiber-reinforced composites, corrosion-resistant alloys and improved spring materials also extends service intervals under high-speed, contaminated, wet-gas and non-lubricated conditions.
