This report provides a comprehensive assessment of recent tariff adjustments and international strategic countermeasures on Colloidal Gold Immunochromatography Products cross-border industrial footprints, capital allocation patterns, regional economic interdependencies, and supply chain reconfigurations.
In 2024, global Colloidal Gold Immunochromatography Products sales reached approximately 2,562.66 M units, with an average global market price of around US$1,117 per K units.
Colloidal gold immunochromatography technology has developed rapidly in recent years and has been widely used in the biomedical field, particularly in medical testing. Colloidal gold immunochromatographic test strips primarily coat specific antigens or antibodies in the form of strips on the detection line of a NC membrane. The colloidal gold-labeled antigen or antibody is adsorbed onto a conjugate pad. When the sample is applied to the well at the end of the test strip, it migrates forward through capillary action, dissolving the colloidal gold-labeled antigen or antibody on the conjugate pad and then migrating to the detection line of the coated antigen or antibody. If the sample contains the corresponding antibody or antigen, the antigen or antibody coated on the detection line and the colloidal gold label bind to the corresponding antibody or antigen in the sample, forming an immune complex. The colloidal gold is concentrated at the detection line, forming a visible purple-red line. If the serum tested lacks the corresponding antibody, the colloidal gold label will not bind to the antigen or antibody coated on the detection line, resulting in no colloidal gold accumulation and no purple-red line appearing on the detection line. As the sample and colloidal gold marker continue to move upward to the control line, they bind to specific antibodies or antigens coated there, forming an immune complex and resulting in a purple-red line enriched with colloidal gold.
This detection technology offers advantages such as simplicity and speed, high specificity and sensitivity, single-sample measurement, intuitive results, and the absence of specialized equipment. It is suitable for grassroots units, hospitals, field workers, large-scale testing with tight deadlines, and large-scale surveys, and has enormous development potential and application prospects.
Market Development Opportunities & Main Driving Factors
Colloidal gold immunochromatography products have become increasingly popular as rapid and convenient diagnostic tools worldwide. The high prevalence of infectious diseases, particularly respiratory and gastrointestinal infections, has driven the demand for rapid diagnostic products. Additionally, the growing awareness of health and wellness among consumers has led to a higher acceptance of self-testing products, further expanding the market. Technological advancements, such as multiplex testing capabilities and the proliferation of portable devices, have broadened the application scenarios of these products in clinical, home, and environmental testing. Government emphasis on public health and supportive policies for rapid diagnostic technologies have also provided strong backing for market development.
Market Challenges, Risks, & Restraints
Despite the promising market outlook, colloidal gold immunochromatography products face several challenges and risks. Firstly, issues related to quality control and standardization need further attention, especially concerning product consistency across different regions and manufacturers. Secondly, the increasing number of homogeneous products in the market has intensified price competition, potentially impacting profit margins. Moreover, consumers' rising expectations for product accuracy and reliability require continuous investment in research and development to enhance product performance and meet market demands. Lastly, global supply chain instabilities, particularly concerning raw materials and production capacities, may affect market supply.
Downstream Demand Trends
Downstream demand is exhibiting diversification and personalization trends. The clinical diagnostics sector continues to require rapid and accurate testing products, especially in emergency and primary healthcare settings. The home self-testing market is also expanding rapidly, with consumers seeking convenient health monitoring solutions. Environmental monitoring and food safety sectors are increasing their demand for rapid testing technologies, driving the application of related products. With the widespread adoption of health management concepts, colloidal gold immunochromatography products are expected to extend beyond disease diagnosis to encompass health monitoring and disease prevention, further enriching market demand.

Colloidal gold is gold particles of a certain size that are polymerized into gold ions of a certain size after the reduction of gold ions by chloroauric acid (HAuCl4) under the action of reducing agents such as white phosphorus, ascorbic acid, sodium citrate, and tannic acid. The crystal nucleus (icosahedron formed by 11 gold atoms) and the surrounding double ion layer (the inner layer is the negative ion layer AuCl2-, the outer layer is the positively charged H+). Due to the electrostatic effect, the gold particles repel each other and suspend into a stable colloidal state, forming a negatively charged hydrophobic glue solution, so it is called colloidal gold. Colloidal gold has high electron density and can be combined with a variety of biological macromolecules. It has become a non-radioactive tracer commonly used in immunolabeling technology after fluorescein, radioisotopes and enzymes.
