Similar to the desktop e-nose, the portable e-nose also mimics the human olfactory system by using an array of chemical sensors, but it has a more compact design for mobile, on-site, and real-time odor monitoring applications. Compared with the traditional desktop electronic nose, the portable device is smaller and lighter, and can be easily carried to different places for odor detection. These devices usually have fast response capabilities, and can acquire and analyze odor data in a short period of time to achieve instant monitoring and feedback. Many portable electronic nose devices support wireless connections, and can transmit data to mobile phones, tablets, or the cloud via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, etc. for further processing and analysis.
