Eddy current techniques are used to nondestructively measure the thickness of nonconductive coatings on nonferrous metal substrates. A coil of fine wire conducting a high-frequency alternating current (above 1 MHz) is used to set up an alternating magnetic field at the surface of the instrument"s probe. When the coating thickness probe is brought near a conductive surface, the alternating magnetic field will set up eddy currents on the surface. The substrate characteristics and the distance of the probe from the substrate (the coating thickness) affect the magnitude of the eddy currents. The eddy currents create their own opposing electromagnetic field that can be sensed by the exciting coil or by a second, adjacent coil.
The eddy current coating thickness gauge is a non-destructive testing instrument used to measure coating thickness. It uses the principle of eddy current effect to measure the thickness of the coating by sensing or detecting changes in the electromagnetic field. It is suitable for measuring non-magnetic coatings on metal substrates, such as paint, glue, plating, etc. The eddy current coating thickness gauge does not need to damage or destroy the coating to be tested, and can directly measure on the surface without affecting the integrity of the coating to be tested. Such measuring instruments are usually of high precision, capable of measuring coating thickness at the micron level, providing accurate measurement results. The eddy current coating thickness gauge is designed to be durable and reliable for industrial environments, ensuring long-term stability and reliability.

Eddy current techniques are used to nondestructively measure the thickness of nonconductive coatings on nonferrous metal substrates. A coil of fine wire conducting a high-frequency alternating current (above 1 MHz) is used to set up an alternating magnetic field at the surface of the instrument's probe. When the coating thickness probe is brought near a conductive surface, the alternating magnetic field will set up eddy currents on the surface. The substrate characteristics and the distance of the probe from the substrate (the coating thickness) affect the magnitude of the eddy currents. The eddy currents create their own opposing electromagnetic field that can be sensed by the exciting coil or by a second, adjacent coil.
