The hardness of the water in the automatic sodium ion exchanger is mainly composed of calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) ions. When the raw water containing hardness ions passes through the resin layer in the water softener, the Ca and Mg ions in the water are exchanged and adsorbed by the resin, and at the same time, sodium and Na ions are released in the same amount. The water flowing out of the water softener is softened water with hardness ions removed.
