At present, 3M dominates the electronic fluorination fluid industry, especially in the field of semiconductor market, where 3M and Solvay occupy almost all market shares. In 2022, 3M announced that it would stop the production of all PFAS products, including fluorinated polymers, fluorinated liquids and related products based on PFAS addition, by the end of 2025, resulting in tight supply of global electronic fluorination fluid and soaring prices. Although Chinese electronic fluorination fluid companies have a production capacity of more than 1,000 tons, it often takes several years to introduce the industrial chain of chip manufacturers. It is expected that after 2027, Chinese companies will occupy the main market. Europe and the United States have increasingly stringent supervision of perfluoropolyether-type products.
