The cobalt-60 radiotherapy machine mainly consists of a sealed cobalt-60 radioactive source, source container and protective head, shutter device, collimator, treatment frame, timer and motion control system, as well as radiation safety and interlocking system composed of other parts. During treatment, the cobalt source is pushed by a pneumatic mechanism to transport the radioactive source from the storage position to the irradiation position. The gamma-ray beam generated by cobalt-60 is emitted outward through the collimation port and irradiated at the tumor location to kill tumor cells. After the treatment process is completed, the cobalt source will actively return and park stably in the storage position.
