The atomic radii of aluminum and silicon are close, and they diffuse into each other at a certain temperature to form an alloy junction, that is, an ohmic contact, and the contact resistance is reduced. The fine grid aluminum paste used in PERC cells has two functions: 1) Doping. The local aluminum paste contacts the P+ layer in the PERC structure, which acts as a back field and reduces the back recombination rate. 2) Conductivity. Aluminum and silicon dissolve each other to form local point contacts.
