Zeolite beta has a complex structure consisting of an intergrowth of two distinct structures, polymorph A and polymorph B. Both polymorphs contain a three-dimensional network of 12-ring pores. Each polymorph grows as a two-dimensional sheet, and the sheets within beta zeolite randomly alternate between the two polymorphs. The intergrowth of the polymorphs has little effect on the pores in two of the dimensions, but in the faulting direction, the pores are tortuous rather than blocked. Beta structured zeolites, are widely used for automotive emission control, industrial off-gas purification, and reduction of VOC, NOx and N2O. As process catalysts, they are ideal for fuel upgrading, production of petrochemical intermediates, and processing chemicals. The zeolites are also suitable for adsorption purposes, such as odor removal and active carbon replacement.

Zeolites have been the beneficiaries of growing public sensitivity to environmental issues. As aluminosilicates, they have generally been accepted as harmless replacements for more environmentally damaging products. The environmental impact of zeolites has been fully characterized by life-cycle analysis. Zeolite molecular sieves are indispensable catalysts in many industrial processes. Among them, Beta zeolite has become one of the most widely produced zeolite materials with industrial significance because of its three-dimensional macroporous structure. Zeolite beta also show a lot of promise for the treatment of industrial off-gases (NOx, VOC) and mobile emissions (DeNOx).

    Zeolite beta has a complex structure consisting of an intergrowth of two distinct structures, polymorph A and polymorph B. Both polymorphs contain a three-dimensional network of 12-ring pores. Each polymorph grows as a two-dimensional sheet, and the sheets within beta zeolite randomly alternate between the two polymorphs. The intergrowth of the polymorphs has little effect on the pores in two of the dimensions, but in the faulting direction, the pores are tortuous rather than blocked. Beta structured zeolites, are widely used for automotive emission control, industrial off-gas purification, and reduction of VOC, NOx and N2O. As process catalysts, they are ideal for fuel upgrading, production of petrochemical intermediates, and processing chemicals. The zeolites are also suitable for adsorption purposes, such as odor removal and active carbon replacement.
