A robot anti-collision sensor is a sensor device used to detect and avoid collisions between a robot and surrounding objects, essentially an end effector that protects the robot from damage when it approaches obstacles or comes into contact with them. It can be achieved by different technical principles, including ultrasonic, infrared, laser and video. These sensors can sense the obstacles around the robot and take corresponding control measures based on the distance and position of the detected obstacles, such as stopping, avoiding or changing direction to avoid collisions. There are three main methods of sensing and severing a robot"s contact with an obstacle: mechanical, pneumatic, and a combination of mechanical and pneumatic. All signals are fed to the robot control unit, which cuts power to the robot.
