Functional organosilanes are generally referred to as functional silanes in terms of structure. From a functional point of view, functional silanes are mostly hybrid structures, and most products contain both polar and non-polar functional groups in the same molecule. The general formula of functional silanes is RSiX3, where R represents groups such as amino, vinyl, epoxy and methylacryloyloxy, which are easy to react with functional groups in organic polymers, so that silane and organic Polymer link. X represents a hydrolyzable group, which is used to improve the actual bonding strength between the polymer and the inorganic substance.
Silanes are well known silicon-based chemicals with four inorganic or organic substituents attached to the silicon atom. The chemical has a variety of applications, including rubber compounding, and can be used as a coupling agent to help bond non-black pigments to polymer backbones. The compression and coefficient of friction of the rubber are thereby improved. Silanes also function as adhesion promoters and water scavengers. For increased temperature, chemical resistance and moisture content, silanes can be used as adhesion enhancers. Silicone derivatives known as silanes combine aspects of organic and inorganic materials. These products are in higher demand in end-use applications due to their excellent qualities including cold resistance, heat resistance, water resistance, deformability, adhesion, reliability, and electrical properties.
