Since ancient times, rosin has been used in people's daily life. Rosin resin products are the main products of the rosin deep processing industry. Rosin resin is easily oxidized and isomerized. Most of the current rosins are modified. The modified rosins include: hydrogenated rosin, polymerized rosin, disproportionated rosin, rosin glycerol ester, rosin pentaerythritol ester, etc. Non-hydrogenated rosin esters mainly include rosin glycerol ester, rosin pentaerythritol ester, etc.
Rosin esters are polyol esters of rosin acid, and commonly used polyols include glycerol and pentaerythritol. It is produced by the esterification reaction of rosin and alcohols in the presence of a catalyst. Rosin ester is a light yellow transparent solid with a variety of excellent physical and chemical properties, such as high softening point, good solubility and reactivity.
