A transient suppression triac (SIDAC) is a special type of triac, also known as a bidirectional bipolar thyristor. Unlike ordinary triacs (such as TRIACs), SIDACs are primarily used in voltage regulation and transient protection applications. SIDACs are commonly used to protect circuits from overvoltages and transient overvoltages. It has two trigger poles that can conduct current in both directions. When the voltage exceeds a set threshold, the SIDAC will conduct current, thereby directing the overvoltage to ground and protecting other components in the circuit.

A transient suppression triac (SIDAC) is a special type of triac, also known as a bidirectional bipolar thyristor. Unlike ordinary triacs (such as TRIACs), SIDACs are primarily used in voltage regulation and transient protection applications. SIDACs are commonly used to protect circuits from overvoltages and transient overvoltages. It has two trigger poles that can conduct current in both directions.
