The blood salvage machine works by collecting the blood produced in the patient's body through a specialized system, processing it to remove impurities and platelet aggregation, and then returning the processed blood to the patient. This method is actually a form of autologous blood transfusion, because the blood returned comes from the patient itself, and there is no compatibility problem between the donor and the recipient.
