The encoder shaft is mechanically connected to the machine's rotation axis, which rotates the code disc, which consists of a series of opaque and transparent sectors. Light from the light emitting diodes (LEDs) passes through the transparent sectors of the disc and is detected by the photodiodes. The photodiode detects the light and emits an electrical signal, which is amplified and converted into a digital signal for transmission to the processing system or inverter. The output of the encoder thus reflects the angular position of the shaft rotation in the form of a digital signal.
