A fiber-coupled semiconductor laser is a diode laser in which the light generated is coupled into an optical fiber. In many cases, it is necessary to couple the output light from a diode laser into an optical fiber to be able to deliver the light where it is needed. In order to increase the output power of semiconductor lasers and improve beam quality, a series of beam combining technologies such as multi-beam spatial coupling, wavelength coupling, and polarization coupling are used in fiber lasers. On this basis, many foreign companies and research institutes have developed a method of combining multiple coupling technologies, all of which have achieved kilowatt-level power output of semiconductor lasers.
