The electrons flow through the external circuit to generate current, while the positively charged hydrogen ions reach the cathode through the membrane, where they combine with oxygen to form water. In order to ensure the effective operation of the fuel cell system, hydrogen must be continuously circulated through the anode to maintain a stable fuel supply for the electrochemical reaction.
