A tissue embedding machine is a piece of laboratory equipment used in histology to prepare tissue samples for sectioning and staining. It is used to embed tissue specimens in a paraffin wax block, which allows for thin and consistent sections to be cut for microscopic examination.

The process of tissue embedding involves several steps. First, the tissue sample is dehydrated using a series of alcohol solutions to remove water. Then, it is cleared using a clearing agent to remove alcohol and make the tissue transparent. Next, the tissue is infiltrated with molten paraffin wax, which impregnates the tissue and provides support for sectioning. Finally, the tissue is placed in a mold with molten paraffin wax and allowed to solidify.

A tissue embedding machine automates this process, making it more efficient and consistent. It typically consists of a heated chamber for melting and maintaining the paraffin wax at a specific temperature, a cooling plate for solidifying the wax, and a mechanism for holding the tissue samples and molds in place. Some machines also have a vacuum system to aid in the infiltration of the wax into the tissue.
