Fluazaindolizine is a member of the class of imidazopyridines that is the amide formed from the formal condensation of the carboxy group of 8-chloro-6-(trifluoromethyl)imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine-2-carboxylic acid with the sulfonamide nitrogen of 2-chloro-5-methoxybenzene-1-sulfonamide.Nitriles can be converted to 1° amines by reaction with LiAlH4. During this reaction the hydride nucleophile attacks the electrophilic carbon in the nitrile to form an imine anion. Once stabilized by a Lewis acid-base complexation the imine salt can accept a second hydride to form a dianion.
