Medical polyethylene is a plastic derived from the polymerisation of ethylene. LDPE is mainly used as a blend with other plastics to produce medical bags and IV containers, and can also be made into high-temperature sterilisable medical plastic bags. HDPE is mainly used for medical rigid packaging, but its good mechanical properties also allow it to be used in artificial organs, orthopaedic repair materials and disposable medical supplies. It can also be used as a filler to improve the flow properties of products.
