Alcohol-free beer has become a sensation in Japan. It all started in 2005 when a restaurant owner took an ordinary soda then known as “Guarana” and changed the name to “Kidsbeer”. Sales of this non-alcoholic beer marketed for children completely skyrocketed. From 2005 to 2012, Japan's non-alcoholic beer industry developed rapidly. From 2012 to 2016, the non-alcoholic beer industry in Japan maintained a steady growth trend. Japanese three beer giant occupy the absolute market share.
